Description
The 90-400 External Debeading tool covers a pipe diameter range of between 90mm and 400mm!
It has been designed to safely remove the external bead from a complete butt fusion welded joint. The tool locks onto the pipe bead, then alignment blocks slide against the pipe surface to guide it around the pipe. The blade cuts the under the bead and the ratchet handle helps pull the tool around the pipe, neatly trimming the bead away.
The debeader tool can also be used on flat surfaces such as butt welded plastic sheets by removing the pipe guides.
Also available in different sizes:
63 – 125mm
355 – 630mm
500 – 900mm
400 – 1200mm
During a Butt Fusion weld, a bead is formed both internally and externally as part of the weld process. The welded joint does not rely on these beads for strength, so often the beads are removed for some of the following reasons
- Closer inspection of the weld to expose/detect potential defects.
- Depending on the welding standard in use, some standards (such as the UK WIS spec) mandate that the bead is removed and the twist back test is performed as a form of non-destructive test.
- Request by the client (internal or external depending on the pipe application)
- Sliplining down an existing tight fitting pipe
- Sewerage (clear internal bore with no obstruction is preferred)
- Cable duct (again clear internal bore with no protrusion is preferred)
